Racism in 1990s

*Racism in the 1990s: A Look Back

Racism stuck around as a major issue despite the 1990s seeing significant growth and change worldwide. In the period(1990s), the concept of globalization was still entirely new. In many ways, the decade was characterized by a negative reaction to the successes of the civil freedoms movement.

One of racism's most overthrown representations, according to written data, was the rise of the "white flight" phenomenon in the 1990s.  Let me  explain the concepts  in an easy manner

Let's imagine you live in a packed/crowded big city. You like playing with your buddies in the nearby playground and watching movies with them.
However, your town is unexpectedly overrun with newcomers i.e.new the neighbourhood.  These new people are from different nations and have different skin tones than you and your friends. Few of your friends won't play with outsiders because they are afraid of them. Your parents are beginning to be worried for your security as well. They decide to shift to a new neighbourhood that is mainly populated by other white people.

It is called "white flight.". It happens when white residents leave neighbourhoods that are diversifying. They act in this way because they are afraid of outsiders(people who have different skin tones) or worry that their neighbourhood will become less safe. Numerous harmful outcomes of "white flight" are felt by minority communities. Providing essential services like public safety and education in urban areas has become additional challenging as a result of the decline in tax incomes. It has also aided in the development of segregated neighbourhoods, making it harder for people of different races to interact daily.

While the whole world was already struggling to deal with the white flight phenomenon, the most brutal incident of Rodney turned everything upside-down police brutality against African Americans during the 1990s beating of Rodney King in Los Angeles was one of these incidents that led to numerous protests and calls for reform.

In our 21st century. however,  there have been some significant constructive transformations in recent years.  One of the Best examples is, the election when  Barack Obama(ex-president of the USA) was elected as  president USA was an indication of big improvement, he was the first black president of the USA  Eventually, the Black Lives Matter movement  also started increasing  public awareness/understanding of the problem of police brutality at the global level

The 1990s period saw crucial headway in the fight against discrimination in the United States and it's important to learn from developing countries like the USA  to solve and learn to deal with such big problems. It is important to move ahead in the fight against racism to create an impartial future.
